Van and the long road to recovery
Friday, August 20, 2010 On Friday, August 13th Southern Nevada Pug Rescue transported a medical emergency.
Van, a 2 year old male pug to their vet for evaluation and diagnosis. The poor guy was dumped at the kill shelter due to his medical conditions and is non-weight bearing on his back legs. The shelter vet believes the little guy has severe hip dysplasia and possible nerve damage in his back and legs.
His surgeries and rehabilitation care will be in excess of $2,500 dollars, plus the possibility of a cart, therapy, etc. He will also be boarded for at least 7 days while he is being treated and recovering from his surgeries.
I got to meet this little guy yesterday and take pictures! Even in his discomfort he was giving me kisses. He is so sweet! Such a fighter! Who knows how long he was like this before being dump at the kill shelter.
Once again SNPR came to the rescue! I will be fostering Van during his long road to recovery once he can be released from the animal hospital.
As SNPR heads into one their busiest times of the year for rescue their costs are soaring.
Please, if you can help SNPR out and donate to his care, I would be so grateful. Southern Nevada Pug Rescue

I am so sorry that I forgot to post an update on Van.
Van recovered great! He was so very happy just to be loved it was hard to keep him resting. He was adopted on September 17th, 2010 by a wonderful couple!
They just love him and take him everywhere with them! His Dad is a big Yankee’s fan and Van has all kinds of outfits to prove it.
He is going to become a therapy dog and visit sick people in the hospital to help them with their recovery.
Congratulations little Van, you touched so many hearts and we are so happy for you!
