Welcome to...

I started this blog to talk about my girls, two pugs, Wrinkles & Sputters, our kids!  We got them as puppies and they are 10 years old now!

Since starting my blog we now have adopted four little boy pugs, Mugzee, adopted in October 2009, Taz in May 2010, Dex October 2010 and Lucky the latest addition to our family, adopted November 2010.  So if you catch me talking about the girls and boys, or my kids, you’ll know who I mean.

I’m a stay at home Mommy to Wrinkles, Sputters, Mugzee,Taz, Dex & Lucky.  In May of 2010, I became a Foster Mommy for Southern Nevada Pug Rescue.  On a daily basis I may have 7 pugs and my great nephew Caiden who is 5 when he is not in school.

I thought this would be a great place for you to hear about our adventures with pugs. To spread the word about rescue and just have some fun.  Anyway… I have so much I want to share with you about the things in my life that I love… Pugs, Kids, Fishy’s, Eating, Drinking, Decorating, Travel and just plain living life to the fullest!

I hope while your here you can find something to wag your tail about!

Cabbage Busters

Cabbage Busters or as my Dad would call them “German Hamburgers”.  My Mom got this recipe from the lady next door when I was a kid.  We loved them so much, it seemed like she would make millions of them!  She could hardly keep up with us as we would grab them off the pan as they came out of the oven.  They are like little pockets of fresh baked bread stuffed with hamburger, cabbage and onions.  Heaven! So yummy!

I had a half a head of cabbage and a little over a pound of hamburger so I picked up a package of frozen bread and made a small batch for lunch.  I got 9 out of one loaf of bread.

1/2 head of cabbage (chopped)

1 yellow or white onion (diced)

1 lb ground beef

1 loaf frozen bread (thaw overnight in the refrigerator, in a baggie with a little oil)

Sauté the onion and cabbage in a little olive or vegetable oil until tender.  Season with salt and peper.  Remove from pan and place in a bowl.

Brown hamburger, drain, add to the cabbage mixture.

I let the bread rise just a little.  I turned on the oven until it reached about 100-200 degrees then shut it off.  I placed the bread still in the baggie on a plate and set it in the oven for about 15 minutes.  Then I kneed it to get all the air out.

On a floured surface, roll out the bread, pretty thin and cut into 4x4 or 5x5 squares.  They don’t have to be perfect.

Place about 2 or 3 tablespoons of the cabbage mixture in the middle.

Pull up 2 of the corners and pinch together.  Continue until all corners are pinched into a square.

Pour a generous amount of vegetable oil onto a baking pan.  Slide the top through the oil and then turn over with the pinches on the bottom.  It’s a good idea to have the pad ready before you start to assemble them.

Bake at 350 degrees about 20-25 minutes and golden brown.  You may have to brush on more oil, don’t worry they are not greasy.  It is just like your baking a loaf of bread.  They are very hot so be careful on that first bite!

Enjoy!
